Ludwig I (Blois)
Louis I of Châtillon (French: Louis I de Châtillon ; † August 26, 1346 at Crécy ) was a Count of Blois and Dunois , and Lord of Avesnes from the House of Châtillon . He was a son of Count Guido I of Blois († 1342) and Margaret of Valois, a sister of King Philip VI. of France . His brother was Karl von Blois , the pretender to the Duchy of Brittany .
Ludwig married in Soissons around 1340 Jeanne d'Avesnes († 1350), Countess of Soissons and Mistress of Chimay , a daughter of Jean d'Avesnes, Lord of Beaumont., From the House of Avesnes . They had three sons:
- Ludwig II († 1372), Count of Blois and Dunois
- John II († 1381), Count of Blois and Dunois
- Guido II († 1397), Count of Soissons, Blois and Dunois
Ludwig fought on August 26, 1346 in the Battle of Crécy , in which he was killed. His widow later married the Margrave Wilhelm I of Namur .
