Life

The son of a long-established Uelzer class family graduated from King after graduation in 1964 at the Herzog-Ernst-Gymnasium and the military service in the Armored Engineer Demonstration Company 90 in Munster studied business administration at the University of Hamburg (with Karl Schiller , Herbert Jacob, John Feske, Ottfried Fischer , Paul Theisen, Jens Lübbert, HH Wendler and others), which he graduated in 1971 with the academic degree of Diplom-Kaufmann . At the same time he attended lectures a. a. with Hans Jürgen Eggers at the Institute for Ethnology. The interest in archeology, prehistory and early history as well as the historical Hanseatic city of Uelzen accompanied him throughout his life and contributed to the fact that he left behind a considerable number of scientific publications. His extra-professional research is particularly relevant for the scientific exploration of the city of Uelzen and the Lombards . After completing his studies, König joined the family company L. König , which had existed since 1886 and which he had been managing since 1980. King was married; the marriage resulted in two sons.

On King's initiative, the reintroduction of the Uelzian poor food as the oldest charitable needy food in the world, which has been celebrated annually since 1996 and has been organized by the historical Uelzen association since then, largely with the help of the king. In addition, in the 1990s , König took over the position of monitor in the Gertrudenstiftung zu Uelzen , which was originally founded as a family fief and is now used for church and charitable purposes , and he secured its independence. In 1997, König organized the celebrations for Duke Ernst's 500th birthday for the city of Uelzen . König was a long-time head of the parish of St. Marien and holder of the badge of honor of the Uelzen Museum and Heritage Association.
