Ludwig Kaufmann (theologian)
Ludwig Kaufmann (born October 30, 1918 in Zurich ; † July 8, 1991 ibid) was a Swiss Jesuit theologian and editor .
In 1937 Kaufmann graduated from high school in Zurich. In the following year he entered the Society of Jesus . After philosophical and theological studies, he was ordained a priest in 1948. From 1951 to 1963 he worked as a religion teacher in Basel . Kaufmann was a reporter for various media at the Second Vatican Council from 1962 to 1965 . From 1963 he was editor and after 1973 editor-in-chief of the magazine Orientation . He campaigned for the Second Vatican Council and for liberation theology . In 1988 he received an honorary doctorate from the Catholic Theological Faculty of Tübingen .
