Ludwig Vogelstein

Ludwig Vogelstein (born February 3, 1871 in Pilsen , Austria-Hungary ; died September 23, 1934 in New York ) was an industrialist and philanthropist (engaged in the Good Will Union in America , among others ).

Life

Ludwig Vogelstein was the second son of Heinemann Vogelstein and brother of Hermann and Theodor Vogelstein and Julie Braun-Vogelstein . In 1896 he moved to the USA as a representative of the metal company Aaron Hirsch & Sohn from Halberstadt . He later started his own very successful metal company.

He was a staunch advocate and leader of Reform Judaism, an opponent of Zionism, and active in Jewish community life. Among other things, he was Vice President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism .
