Ludwig Zoeschinger
Ludwig Zöschinger (born March 29, 1731 in Burtenbach ; † November 1, 1806 in Augsburg ) was a German clergyman, composer and organist.
Zöschinger, whose baptismal name was Johann Georg, made his profession in 1751 in the Augustinian canons of St. Cross in Augsburg and was ordained a priest three years later. In addition, he held the post of monastery organist and a little later became dean. After the death of the old prelate, Zöschinger was elected provost of the Holy Cross on June 22, 1778 .
Zöschinger, who was a relative of the Salzburg court music director Johann Ernst Eberlin , was very close to Leopold Mozart and his son Wolfgang Amadeus. They were often guests at the monastery. His first known work, a minuet , was written in 1760. Numerous other church music compositions followed, such as B. Vespers in D (1783).
