Ludwig von Alvensleben (born March 31, 1805 in Neugattersleben ; † July 13, 1869 in Neugattersleben) was the owner of the Neugattersleben estate and a member of the Prussian manor house .

family

Ludwig von Alvensleben came from the Low German noble family von Alvensleben . His father was Joachim von Alvensleben (1776–1805), who died at the age of 29, his mother Wilhelmine (Minettchen) von Alvensleben (1777–1852) from Eichenbarleben . He was the youngest of six siblings. In 1831 he married Luise von Trotha from Schkopau and had six children with her, including the later Count Werner von Alvensleben (1840–1929).

Life

Ludwig von Alvensleben first grew up in Neugattersleben, attended the pedagogy in Halle (Saale) , completed several years of military service and then did practical agricultural training. In 1829 he and his older brother Udo took over the management of their father's property in Neugattersleben, which had been managed by a guardian for almost 25 years. After an inheritance comparison with his brothers, he became the sole owner of the estate in 1831, which was, however, heavily in debt. In 1846 he built his own sugar factory in Neugattersleben, which was in operation until 1880. Subsequently, his son took part in the sugar factory in neighboring Hohenerxleben . The economic situation improved significantly when lignite was found in Neugattersleben in 1849 and 1856, which was mined in the "Luise Hedwig" mine until 1923.

In addition to managing his businesses, he took his duties as church patron in Neugattersleben, Hohendorf, Löbnitz and Brumby very seriously. He was also district deputy, knight of the Order of St. John and from 1868 until his death a member of the Prussian manor house.
