Ludwig von Burgsdorf

Ludwig von Burgsdorf (* before 1466; † 1490 ) was Bishop of Lebus from 1486/87 to 1490.

Life

He came from the noble Burgsdorff family . His father was Siegmund von Burgsdorf on Carzig near Lebus, his brothers were Arnold , later Bishop of Brandenburg, and Peter, later Vogt von Küstrin and governor of Cölln near Berlin. One sister belonged to the Cistercian convent in Zehden .

In 1466 Ludwig was guaranteed a canon position in the collegiate monastery in Soldin by Elector Friedrich II . He was canon in Lebus and was elected the new bishop after the death of Liborius von Schlieben in April 1486. No news of his term of office has been received. He died after March 10, 1490. His body is said to have been buried in the Fürstenwald Cathedral .
