Luigi Emanueli

Luigi Emanueli (born May 4, 1883 in Milan , † February 17, 1959 ) was an Italian electrical engineer who developed the oil cable , a special type of high-voltage cable .

Life

After Luigi Emanueli graduated as an electrical engineer at the Politecnico di Milano in 1906 , he was hired by Pirelli , where he carried out electrical engineering studies. Around 1908 Emanueli demonstrated dielectric losses and in 1911 ionization in AC cables.

In 1917 he became technical manager of Pirelli in Italy and in 1919 chief engineer of Pirelli in England. He gained international attention with his oil cable, which he presented in 1927.

Shortly before his death, he was awarded the Faraday Medal by the British Institution of Electrical Engineers .
