Luigi Faccini

Luigi Monardo Faccini (born November 18, 1939 in Lerici ) is an Italian documentary filmmaker , film director and screenwriter .

Life

Faccini graduated in economics and began his professional work as a film critic for publications such as "Filmcritica", the "Cinema & Film" he founded, and for "Nuovi Argumenti". From 1968 he worked for the Rai as a director of contributions for a number of television formats, mostly historical ones. Faccini made his first television film in 1971; In addition to his documentaries, he kept returning to feature films throughout his career, often writing the script.

He had the greatest success with Il garofano rosso 1975, originally broadcast as a three-part television film , which was shown in an abridged form as a feature at the San Sebastián film festival. In 1985 Faccini won the Italian Nastro d'Argento film award for Inganni .

Faccini is producer Marina Piperno's partner . Since 1997 he has published books regularly.
