Luigi Punzolo

Luigi Punzolo (born May 24, 1905 in Pozzuoli ; † July 27, 1989 ) was a Catholic nuncio .

Life

Luigi Punzolo received on 14 August 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

He attended the Pontifical Diplomatic Academy until 1932 .

On December 6, 1954 he was by Pope Pius XII. appointed titular archbishop of Sebastea and appointed nuncio in Paraguay . His episcopal ordination followed on January 16, 1955. In 1957 he moved as Nuncio from Paraguay to Panama until 1961. After that, he served as Internuncio and Pronuncio in Syria . From 1967 to 1975 he was apostolic administrator of the suburbicarian diocese of Velletri .

In 1953 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by the Federal President .
