Luis Álvarez (born October 4, 1981 in Monterrey , Nuevo León ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender .

career

Álvarez began his professional career at his hometown club UANL Tigres , where he was under contract between 2000 and 2008. However, he played for the Tigres only eight games in the highest Mexican football league (seven of them in the Clausura 2005 ) and was often posted to its reserve teams playing in the second division .

In the first half of the 2008/09 season he played for the Tiburones Rojos Coatzacoalcos and after the sale of their second division license in the second half of the same season for the license buyer Albinegros de Orizaba .
