The e-sports - Clan Team NextGen was on 15 May 2004 by Christian "ZeuSx" AEB and some Rainbow Six -Spielern in Paderborn founded. Team NeXtGen has gained notoriety for its successes in FIFA as well as in Call of Duty , Halo 5 and Gears of War . NXG currently has teams and players in the computer games Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Rocket League .

history

Beginnings

Team NeXtGen was founded on May 15, 2004 as an e-sports clan . A handful of Rainbow Six players at the time got together and started the NeXtGen project. The founding members are M. "NXG Dsyn" Müller, P. "NXG Zero" Miosga, and the current managing director C. "ZeuSx" Gehle. The administration of the team and the creation of a homepage were very time-consuming at the time, so that a small number of members only offered space late to direct the full attention of management to the expansion of the team. One of the first members of NXG was L. "NXG Krachalman" Ploechl, who today leads the team together with ZeuSx. In tournaments and leagues back then, they could not achieve great success. You could not assert yourself permanently against teams like SEF , eAxis and NSA . This threatened the dissolution of the young clan after an accumulation of failures. After overcoming the "dry spell" through some successes against the competition, one of the few clans was able to win first sponsors in the esports scene at that time. With the support of XoduS and 360next , the team was able to be significantly oriented towards the future.

More years

After the first difficult years, the upswing followed in 2007. A small hobby team became an ambitious amateur team. With the new homepage, which was equipped with a content management system for the first time , the team was relieved of a lot of administrative work. With new sponsors, including Lotto , the foundation stone was laid between 2007 and 2009 to gradually close the gap to the pro teams. The internal alignment of the clan also changed increasingly at the end of 2009. So success and competitiveness were more and more in the foreground. Due to the high number of clan wars in the growing esports leagues and the daily training, the skills were developed to stand up to the big teams. This was not least due to the Bavaria team - a young, success-hungry team with a lot of potential. Thanks to this team, NXG made it into the top 3 in Call of Duty for the first time. With these and other successes in Major League Gaming , it was the first time to shine with results on the international stage.

Setbacks and a fresh start

However, in the further course of growth had to be faced with failures. Successes failed and players left the clan. Due to the lack of reputation , sponsorship contracts could not be extended. New approaches had to be found and other projects should provide new pillars. A clan partnership with the ViVAciouS Ladies was brought into being with a lot of work and risk . This aspiring female gaming project was able to attract the full attention of the German eSport scene at the time. ViVa was one of the first teams in female gaming in Europe.

With the growing reputation, great successes were achieved again from 2010 to mid-2012. In contrast, it was all the more stressful to have to deal with further setbacks. In the eSports area, you could still score more points, but you experienced heavy losses on other fronts: server problems, hacker attacks and inconsistencies in management clouded everyday life. In addition, the team leader NXG ZeuSx was only available to a limited extent for personal reasons. As a result, the complete responsibility was now on the co-leader NXG Krachalmann, who seemed overwhelmed with many problems. Temporarily he filled the position of team manager so that NXG ZeuSx could take care of the management alone. Repeated server problems resulted in the homepage and necessary documents being irreparably damaged. The internal chaos meant that sponsorship contracts could no longer be fulfilled. The missing budget could therefore not be used and invested in the team. There was a small ray of hope at Gamescom 2013. After a big discussion among leaders and management, clear guidelines were set and trusted in the more than 10-year friendship.

Back to old strength

At the beginning of the new year, the new homepage was also put online. A homepage with a special design, because Team NeXtGen celebrated 10 years of existence. The blog page created via Wordpress has existed up to the present time and defied all server problems, aided by regular backups. The team jersey was also revised. With the end of 360Live Magazine , a new partner for news in and around the video game industry was found in Gamefloor . They were still very successful in eSports. At Gamescom 2014, as in the previous year, the new Halo offspring was staged in an elaborate tournament. The NXG Halo Team was among the only 8 qualified teams. Against strong competition like VwS Gaming and TCM Gaming one could look forward to the 5th place and a small prize money. The NXG Call of Duty Team qualified for the Call of Duty Championships 2014 in London via the Gfinity Cups. There the team dropped out early. There were no further successes due to a lack of quality and training.

The FIFA area was more successful. First, Patrick "NXG Mr Wolf" Lenort won the VDFL (Association of German-speaking FIFA Leagues) on the PC and Niklas "Raseck" Raseck on the Xbox 360 . Then six players from NXG qualified for the final of the Virtual Bundesliga in Berlin's Olympic Stadium , including the newly crowned VDFL champion NXG Mr Wolf. With the start of the Call of Duty Championship in 2015, two teams were signed. A promising amateur team, which is slowly being introduced to the professional teams, as well as a pro team that only played under the flag of NXG for the period of the championship. Although this team qualified for the EU Regional Finals in London, they could not meet the high standards there.

This setback was compensated for with the announcement of Plantronics Gaming as a further sponsoring partner. In 2015 six players from Team NeXtGen again qualified for the VBL final in Hamburg. With the claim to the title, the players drove to Hamburg. In the final, the only 15-year-old Niklas "NXG Raseck" Raseck was able to prevail against his opponent and thus secure the championship trophy for NXG. With Rico "NXG Rico" Tessmann, an NXG player was also able to secure the MVP for the most goals scored.

today

With the renewed title of the German championship in FIFA another successful period ended. Team NeXtGen , once founded as a pure console team, moved away from the game console as a medium with the title. The reorientation of the team began in spring 2016 and the professional eSports focus was now solely on the PC . With the engagement of a Counter-Strike and a Rainbow-Six team, it was possible to present competitive teams that were able to achieve success in two of the most prestigious PC titles straight away. With consistently good placements in the 99damage league, as well as a 3rd place in the ESEA Germany Open and promotion to CS: GO Main, impressive results were achieved in the first few months. The Rainbow-Six team was also able to attract attention and was bought by Team LeisuRe from the contract at the end of 2016 .

At the beginning of 2017 they only started with the Counter-Strike lineup, which immediately knew how to impress. You could secure the 1st place against over 700 European teams in the ESL 5v5 Open League Winter Europe and thus a starting place for the ESL Major League. The victory over the "new German hope" and one of the strongest Counter-Strike teams, BIG , in the Major League confirmed the ambition of the team. With the announcement of a Rocket League team, it was also possible to expand into another PC title.
