Luis Manuel Cosío Durán

Luis Manuel Cosío Durán (born May 3, 1953 in Mexico City ) is a Mexican ambassador .

Life

Luis Manuel Cosío Durán graduated from the Escuela Libre de Derecho in 1978 with a degree in law . In 1979 he joined the foreign service . From 1979 to December 1982 he headed the department of cultural attachés of the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores . In 1980 he was promoted to third class secretary. In 1983 he joined the Department for Multilateral Organizations . From 1984 to 1988 he was at the embassy in Tokyo the public relations . In March 1988 he was promoted to first class secretary. From 1988 he was accredited at the embassy in Buenos Aires ; from December 1989 he was at the embassy in Washington . In 1990 he was promoted to Consejero and in 1991 to Ministro. In 1992 he became director of the Instituto Cultural Mexicano and cultural envoy in Washington. In 1994 and 1995 he was chair of the Asociación de Agregados Culturales Latinoamericanos in the USA. In December 1995 he was sent to Paris as cultural envoy, where he also served as director of the Centro Cultural Mexicano . From 1997 he headed the history department of the SRE . On January 19, 2000, he was promoted to ambassador. In March 2001 he was accredited to the Consul General in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands . In April 2003 he was appointed Consul General in Montreal.
