Hugo Jesús Gutiérrez Vega (born February 11, 1934 in Guadalajara (Mexico) , Jalisco ; † September 25, 2015 ) was a Mexican ambassador .

Life

His parents were María de Jesús Vega Anaya and Gutiérrez Arce. Vega was an actor , theater director, university professor , journalist and professional diplomat . He studied law at UNAM , where he was also head of the cultural department. In Italy he studied philosophy and sociology .

Vega was a member of the Partido Acción Nacional (Mexico) . In the 1960s he was the head of the Juventud Panista . In 1978 he ran for a seat in parliament, his successor was Hipólito Franco.

From August 15, 1995, Vega was consul general in Puerto Rico . During his tenure in Greece he was also accredited to the government in Lebanon . In 1975 he received the Premio Nacional de Poesía in Mexico. In 2002 he received the Premio Xavier Villaurrutia .

His poems have been translated into English, French, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, Romanian and Greek.
