Luis Melo Lecaros

Luis Melo Lecaros (born September 13, 1905 in Santiago de Chile , † January 27, 1998 ibid) was a Chilean diplomat .

Melo Lecaros studied law at the University of Santiago and joined the Foreign Service in 1928. He held various posts in Argentina , Bolivia , Brazil , Italy and Peru . From 1955 to 1958 he was Director of the Political Department in the Chilean Foreign Ministry and from 1958 to 1960 Undersecretary of State.

He was head of the Chilean delegation at the UN conferences on the law of the sea in 1958 and 1960 in Geneva and later ambassador to India .
