Luis Regueiro Urquiola (born December 22, 1943 in Mexico City ) is a retired Mexican soccer player who mainly played in midfield .

Between August 2001 and February 2003, Regueiro Urquiola was President of the Club Universidad Nacional football club for 18 months, and since retiring from this position, he has been the general advisor for sporting matters at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México .

Luis Regueiro Urquiola is the son of the Spanish football player of Basque descent, Luis Regueiro , who came to Mexico with his brothers Pedro and Tomás in the late 1930s when the Spanish Civil War broke out.

It is known from his active career that he played for the UNAM Pumas between 1963 and 1967 , then worked for Necaxa for three years and then was under contract with Deportivo Toluca for two years .

National team

Luis Regueiro made his debut in the dress of the Mexican national team on May 11, 1966 in a game against Chile, which was won 1-0. After that, Manzo was also part of the Mexican World Cup squad in 1966 , but was not used there.

He scored his only international goal in the 3-1 win against Chile on August 27, 1968. His last international game was on September 29, 1968 against Ethiopia (3-0).
