Luis Rocco

Luis Rocco (born April 21, 1951 in Santa Fe ) is an Argentine flautist.

Rocco studied at the music school of Santa Fe (piano and flute) and at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral with Carmelo Velardo . He continued his flute training with Alfredo Iannelli and Oscar Piluso in Buenos Aires and took master classes with Velardo, Jean Claude Gerard , Jean Noe Sagard and Lars Nilsson .

He was a flautist of the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Santa Fe , the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Entre Ríos and the Chamber Orchestra of the Instituto Superior de Música of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral . In 1985 he became first flutist and piccolo flutist of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires . As a solo flutist, he played world premieres of works by the Argentine composers Pablo Aguirre , Jorge Mockert , Guillo Espel and Enzo Gieco .

He was one of the founding members of the Artis Chamber Music Orchestra , played in chamber music formations such as the Academia Bach and the Camerata Bariloche, and was a member of the La Posta Trio from 1996 to 2003 . Since 2002 he has formed a duo with the pianist and composer Pablo Guirre. He is professor of flute at the Universidad Nacional del Litoral and at the Conservatory of Buenos Aires.
