Pablo Aguirre

Pablo Aguirre (* 1961 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine pianist and composer .

Life

After studying piano at the Buenos Aires Conservatory, Aguirre studied music pedagogy at the Centro de Altos Estudios en Ciencias Exactas (CAECE), piano with Guillermo Graetzer and Roberto Caamaño, and composition and orchestration with Manolo Juárez and Lito Valle .

As a pianist, Aguirre has given more than 400 concerts a. a. at the Teatro Colón , Teatro San Martín and Teatro Cervantes and worked with musicians such as Manolo Juárez, Bernardo Maraj and Guillo Espel . In addition, he worked on CD recordings by Angel Frette , Natalia González Figueroa , Lars Nilsson , María Estela Monti and others.

With the trio La Posta he founded , Aguirre recorded six CDs, some of them with his own compositions. In 1994 he toured Germany, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Italy and Austria with the formation. Since 2002 he has been working in a duo formation with the flautist Luis Rocco , who also belonged to the Trio La Posta. The duo is dedicated to the chamber music interpretation of tango and presented the program "Chamber music encounters with tango" in the Teatro Colón. It performed at the International Tango Festival in Buenos Aires and gave concerts in Berlin under the title "Classical meets Tango".

With the Trio La Posta, Aguirre received the Trimar Prize of the Argentine Music Council in 1993 and the Trimalca Prize of the International Music Council in 1994 . In 2008 the National Foundation of the Arts awarded him the Premio Estímulo a la Creación .

In his compositions, Aguirre combines classical music with Argentinean folklore and tango. Music critics recognize the influences of Alberto Ginastera , Heitor Villa-Lobos and Waldo de los Rios as well as Astor Piazzolla in his works .
