Luis Sánchez Pontón

Luis Sánchez Pontón (born August 8, 1895 in Jalisco , † 1969 ) was a Mexican ambassador and minister of education.

Life

Luis Sánchez Pontón was the son of Manuel Sánchez de Lara. He studied law , practiced the profession of lawyer and was temporarily the Oficial Mayor de Hacienda (Head of the Ministry of Finance).

Pontón was Minister of Education from 1941 to 1942 under Manuel Ávila Camacho's government . During this activity he adhered to Article 3 of the Mexican Constitution of 1934, which states that state education must be socialist. He was then ambassador in Quito , in Bern and finally from August 1, 1946 to March 13, 1947 in St. Petersburg, Russia .
