Luise Brinkmann (* 1985 in Beckum , North Rhine-Westphalia ) is a German director .

Life

Luise Brinkmann made short films when she was still at school. After graduating from high school in 2004 and training as a media designer for image and sound, she gained several years of experience in various areas of cinema and television film production in Berlin - including at the post-production company ARRI Film & TV GmbH Berlin. In addition to taking additional acting and improvisational theater courses in her free time, Brinkmann constantly realized her own film projects, with which she was regularly invited to festivals. Her 2010 film next door was so successful at LGBT festivals around the world that it was subsequently released on DVD and on various portals as VOD . After a year of study at the University for the Creative Arts in England, Brinkmann studied directing at the International Film School (IFS) in Cologne between 2012 and 2016 . She is currently working on her next feature film.

The web series Emmas Welt (2013) , which she directed, was awarded the prize for the best German web series at the Webfest Berlin in 2015 and won the prize for the best leading actress at the Sicily Web Fest in 2016 . Her film Kalt Küssen (2014) was released for school lessons across Germany in 2016 by the Institute for Film and Image in Science and Education . Her graduation film Beat Beat Heart (2016) celebrated its world premiere at the 34th Munich Film Festival in 2016 and was awarded a special prize by the jury of the New German Cinema Prize on July 1, 2016 .
