Luise Glaß

Luise Glaß , also: Luise Glass (born February 4, 1857 in Altenburg , Thuringia ; † August 1, 1932 there ) was a German writer .

Life

Luise Glaß was the daughter of the Saxon-Altenburg high state official and writer Richard Glaß . She grew up in Altenburg and attended school there. From 1881 to 1882 she lived in Leipzig , where she received decisive cultural stimuli. At the same time, she began to publish literary works. From 1888 to 1891 she was based in Berlin and worked in a bookstore. In 1891 she moved to Kahla to live with her widowed mother ; In 1899 she returned to Altenburg. During the First World War she was part of the editorial team of the " Allgemeine Deutsche Sprachverein " magazine in Berlin. In 1919 she returned to Altenburg.

Luise Glaß was the author of novels , short stories , poems and plays . She achieved her greatest successes with her books for girls , which are to be assigned to the " Backfischliteratur " and which saw numerous new editions up until the 1920s .
