Paul Nicholas Tamasy (born February 17, 1964 in Thetford , England ) is an American - British screenwriter and film producer .

Career

Paul Nicholas Tamasy was born to a US Airman in the United States Air Force and a British mother. After being on the " UCLA had studied School of Theater, Film and Television", he tried to sell several screenplays for thrillers and detective stories. He first drew attention to himself with the film series Air Bud , which he developed together with Aaron Mendelsohn and which was later successfully filmed. After Disney first had no interest in Tamasys and Mendelsohn story about basketball playing dogs, the duo turned to the Canadian production company Keystone Pictures , the first film then for 4.5 million Canadian dollars produced, which was then distributed by Disney. After both had also written the script for the sequel and had to find out that the films had already earned over 300 million US dollars in which they did not participate, Mendelsohn and Tamasy sued both companies unsuccessfully for a profit sharing and were only with an expense allowance of $ 14,000 for each additional film for the characters they develop.

With his screenplay about the life of the American boxer Micky Ward , which he wrote together with Eric Johnson , Tamasy was then more successful overall. Not only did the sports drama The Fighter gross over $ 129 million at the box office - with a production budget of $ 25 million; Tamasy and Johnson, together with Scott Silver , were also rewarded with nominations for the Oscar and the British Academy Film Award , as well as other film prizes for their script work.
