The house Luitpoldstrasse 4

The house Luitpoldstraße 4 (formerly house number 146) is a listed building in the heart of the Lower Franconian Prichsenstadt .

history

The house was first mentioned in 1599. At that time, the councilor Johann Gebhard owned it . He probably also had the current property built, although literature only dates the house to the 17th century. Gebhard later rose to become a Grand Umgelter and, as a field valuer and councilor of seven, held important offices within the city hierarchy. The house was planned accordingly representative.

In the 18th century, unnamed craftsmen lived in the house. They had the property rebuilt in a modern style so that today the entire substructure and the front along Luitpoldstrasse can be attributed to the time around 1730/1740. The house was classified as a historical building by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments . Underground remains of any previous buildings are listed as ground memorials. It is also part of the Prichsenstadt old town ensemble .

description

The corner house Luitpoldstrasse / Schmiedgasse is a two-storey gable roof building with an ornamental framework . The free-standing east gable is particularly remarkable. The half-timbering has no entablature and was decorated with block friezes. A window bay from the time of construction probably disappeared in the course of the renovations in the 18th century. The parapet was worked with nested and curly decorative wood as well as with star crosses and fire rams .

Inside the house, the transformation into a retail space can be seen in the past. On the upper floor you can find the tri-zone that is usual for the Prichsenstadt houses. The two-story attic is dominated by a reclining chair. This system enables the elongated gable. The basement consists of two barrel vaults that were built across the ridge . A cellar neck facing the courtyard forms the entrance.
