Lukáš Pollert
Lukáš Pollert (born March 24, 1970 in Prague ) is a former canoe slalom skier in the Canadians who started first for Czechoslovakia and then for the Czech Republic . He won a gold medal in the Olympics .
Career
Pollert took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona . He was only in second place behind Jon Lugbill , who completed the course in 1: 51.48 minutes, and was two seconds behind. Lukas Pollert only won the gold medal when Lugbill had touched the pole and therefore added five penalty seconds. Four years later, at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta , Pollert was beaten by Michal Martikán from Slovakia and won the silver medal. After the end of his career, Pollert worked as a doctor.
