Lukas Huber (born August 15, 1987 in St. Pölten ) is an Austrian bowling athlete and multiple world champion.

Career

Huber, who comes from Oberwölbling, started bowling at the age of four under the guidance of his father Gustav Huber. From 2006 he completed a police training and attended the police school in Vienna. Huber is an executive officer in Lower Austria and lives in St. Pölten.

successes

Huber, who competes for BSV Voith St. Pölten, is seven times world champion. His greatest success was the world championship title in the general class in 2006 in Skopje in the men's pair fight together with his partner Thomas Löscher (Austria) with a total of 1218 skittles (601 + 617). He also won three runner-up titles and was runner-up three times.

He has already won 29 Austrian championship titles nationally. With BSV Voith St. Pölten he was Austrian champion seven times in a row. His greatest success with BSV Voith came in 2012 at the World Team Cup in Augsburg, where he made it into the final with his performance in the semifinals against Podbrezova. In the 2012/13 season, thanks to Huber's performance, they made it to the Champions League final. There the fourth place was achieved.

In the Austrian championship he was the best Austrian player in Austria's super league six times in a row from the 2010/11 - 2016/17 season.

In December 2013 Huber was called up as the only German-speaking player in the world selection on the occasion of the “50 years of active bowler” anniversary of Croatian sports bowler Nicolas Dragas. With 626 cones, Huber scored the second best mark in the world selection and scored the first point for his team. In the end, his team prevailed 5-3 against the Croatian national team.

In the 2013/14 season Lukas Huber was champion and cup winner with BSV Voith St. Pölten. At the individual world championships in Brno in 2014 , he won the bronze medal. At the Austrian individual state championship in 2014 in the general class, he achieved a new track record with 671 cones and thus secured the title.

With Club BSV Voith St. Pölten, Lukas Huber was vice state champion and cup winner in the 2014/15 season. He was invited a second time to a world selection for a track opening in Bačka Topola , Serbia. He won the bronze medal for Austria at the 2015 General Class Individual World Cup in Hirschau . At the 2015 Team World Cup, Austria qualified as group winners for the quarter-finals and defeated Croatia 5-3, with Huber being the best in the team with 678 cones, bringing Austria to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals Austria lost to Serbia 3: 5 and won the bronze medal. Huber was able to defend his individual championship title in 2015 with 626 cones and a track record in Bruck an der Mur . During the 2015 summer break, Lukas Huber was invited to a world selection in Bamberg to celebrate Bela Csanyi and in Szeged to celebrate “20 years of Szegedi TE”.

The 2015/16 season was a tough one due to the death of his father. With BSV Voith he was Vice State Champion. He was again the best Austrian player. However, no title could be won at Austrian championships and the individual World Championships in 2016.

The 2016/17 season went better again. With BSV Voith St. Pölten he reached 2nd place in the championship. At the 2016 European Team Cup, he won the silver medal with BSV Voith St. Pölten. At the general class individual world cup in Straubing in 2017, he won the bronze medal for Austria. It was the number 19 and 20 international medals for him.
