Anser , Bayer designation Alpha Vulpeculae ( α Vul ) is a red giant of the spectral class M0 and the brightest star in the constellation Vulpecula . This name was officially confirmed by the IAU on June 30, 2017 . Another name is Lukida Anseris . The star, which is around 300 light years away, has an apparent magnitude of 4.4 magnitudes.

The mountain Anseris Mons on Mars is named after him.
