Lunan Bay

Lunan Bay is a three-kilometer-long sandy bay in eastern Scotland in the traditional County of Angus .
Lunan Bay is named after the river Lunan Water that flows into it , at the mouth of which there is a hamlet of the same name . The city of Arbroath is eleven kilometers south .
It is believed that Vikings landed here in 1010 before taking Dundee . At the mouth of the river are the ruins of the Red Castle, which dates back to William I of Scotland .
In 2000, Lunan Bay was voted the best beach in Scotland. In the northern area there are high dunes . After rough seas you can go in search of semi-precious stones , especially agates . From the birds can be found at other Great Gray Shrike , Red-backed Shrike , Black Scoter , rough-legged buzzard and Hoopoe one.
