Lusanga , formerly Leverville , is a city in the province of Kwilu in the western part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

Lusanga is located on the left bank of the Kwilu near the confluence of the Kwenge with the Kwilu.
history
The name of Lusanga in the Belgian colonial era was Leverville , after the founder of the British company Unilever William Lever . In 1911, Lever signed a contract with the Belgian government, in which this gave Unilever access to the palm oil producers. The main administration for the purchase of fruits of the oil palm , for palm oil and palm kernel oil was established in Leverville. The company Huileries du Congo Belge also built a large factory for the production of palm oil in Leverville. This was one of three in the Kwilu district.

Lusanga is located on the national road N 1, which connects the country from Kinshasa in the west to the east with the former Kasai provinces ( Occidental and Oriental ). It owns a small airport with the IATA airport code LUS.
