Luspebryggan

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Luspebryggan is a former airfield and train station in northern Sweden about eight kilometers from Porjus .

The Swedish airline Fiskflyg AB has its roots in Luspebryggan. The airfield is not an ordinary airfield, but a landing stage for seaplanes on the Stora Lulevatten lake , which is fed by the Stora Luleälven river . Flight operations began in the late 1940s. Over the years eight Republic RC-3 Seabee were used alongside other aircraft. When a new dam was built in Stora Luleälven in 1975, the water level changed and flight operations had to be stopped here.

Luspebryggan is located on the inland railway and still has a rarely used stopping point. There used to be a loading platform and a station building to transfer goods to the airfield. The Swedish county road 827 leads to approximately three kilometers away European route E45 .
