history

The newly established Hasenbuck settlement was also part of the rapid development of industry in Nuremberg at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century and the resulting increase in population. The residents of the Hasenbuck visited the Gustav-Adolf-Gedächtniskirche in Lichtenhof , which became the mother church of the Lutherkirche on the Hasenbuck.

Since 1924, regular forest services have been held on the Hasenbuck in the summer months because of the overcrowded church in Lichtenhof. For example, Pastor Georg Schönweiß from the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Nuremberg-Lichtenhof planned the construction of a so-called emergency church with a kindergarten on Hasenbuck. In the spring of 1936, work began on the design by the government master builder Max Kälberer . What was intended as an emergency church became a brick-built, sober, functional building with a roof turret. At the topping-out ceremony on June 19, 1936, Pastor Weiß called the church the “Luther Church on Hasenbuck” for the first time. Although the fresco was not yet finished and only a sketch in original size was available, the consecration took place on July 25, 1937, at which the architect presented Pastor Schmidt the key, since Pastor Schönweiß was not present. On September 26, 1937, the 5.5 mx 3.2 m large fresco painting depicting the Sermon on the Mount was completed above the altar.

The damage caused by the Second World War could only be repaired in 1951/52. In 1959, at the instigation of Pastor Kurt Heimbucher , the church became an independent parish with two parish offices. In 1968 the church was rebuilt, there was a classic main entrance with a vestibule, the kindergarten was incorporated into the church, a former apartment was converted into a gallery and a single-nave church was built. At the same time the choir arch and the fresco were removed. A sandstone surface was raised as a background for the altar and the cross. In 2006 two colored scarves were attached to the side of the sandstone surface.
