The Luther Church in Königsberg was a church on the cattle market in East Prussia's provincial capital.

construction

Erected in 1910 according to plans by the architect Friedrich Heitmann , the Luther Church was an eclectic combination of neo-renaissance and baroque . The floor plan was a hall building with four stairwells. The main tower was built into the complex, not attached to the building. The staircases were marked from the outside by low spiers, while the main tower on the lower floor formed a large entrance hall and had an open bell house upstairs. The spire was designed like a dome and carried a copper lantern. The interior was a rectangular hall with two side extensions. A gallery ran around it . The whole thing was covered by a flat coffered ceiling . Only slightly damaged by the air raids on Königsberg and the Battle of Königsberg , the church was not repaired and demolished in 1976. It was the last sacred building from German times that was removed in Kaliningrad against the wishes of the population and in protest of the preservationists. A cinema was probably built based on their model and with their material. In Kaliningrad nothing reminds of the former Luther Church.
