Lutz Heimann

Lutz Heimann (born July 28, 1976 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former German rescue athlete .

Heimann began his sporting career in 1982 with SSV 70 Halle-Neustadt eV Due to his physical requirements, he was delegated to SC Chemie Halle, Swimming Dept., where he was last trained by Frank Embacher . In 1994 he discovered his passion for rescue sports in the German Life Rescue Society (DLRG). From 1994 to 2007 he trained at the DLRG Halle-Saalekreis under Holger Friedrich. Heimann is the most successful pool lifeguard at the Rescue World Championships. During his career he has been world champion 35 times, European champion 38 times and World Games winner five times . Lutz Heimann also won the title of German champion in the individual all-around competition six times. He was also successful in the Nivea Cup and the Salt Cup.

In the summer of 2007, Lutz Heimann and his friend and long-time club mate Lars Görny (5 times world champion, 10 times European champion) swam around the island of Mallorca within seven days.
