Lutz Udo Max Simon (born September 3, 1941 in Neurode , Glatz district , Lower Silesia ) is a German lawyer .

Life

From 1961 he studied law , business administration and economics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg . In 1969 he was admitted to the bar at the Frankfurt am Main Regional Court and the local courts.

In 1971 Lutz Simon obtained his doctorate in Würzburg. iur. utr. with the topic: "The trade secret with special consideration of the Works Constitution Act and the Act against Unfair Competition". In 1979 he was licensed as a specialist lawyer for tax law and was appointed as a notary in the higher regional court district of Frankfurt am Main with the official seat in Frankfurt am Main. On September 30, 2011, he finished the notary's office.

Since September 1996, Simon has been professor for private and commercial law at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences in the business department. In 1999 he was admitted as a specialist lawyer for criminal law .

1986 Lutz Simon received his PhD. phil. at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University with the topic "Theory of Norms - Theories of Norms. A critical investigation of the justifications of norms in view of the loss of meaning of metaphysical natural law". In 1986 he passed the examination for the Magister Artium (major: Catholic theology, minor: legal history and philosophy) with the subject "Main concerns of the Johannine representation of the Passion (Joh 18-19)".

In 1993 he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. at the Philosophical-Theological College Sankt Georgen (College of the Jesuits) in Frankfurt am Main with the topic: "Peter and the favorite disciple in John's Gospel - Office and Authority".

Lutz Simon has been a member of the Presidium of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association since 2003, and President of the Frankfurt am Main Bar Association from 2007 to 2013. From 2012 to 2013 he took over the presidency of the "Fédération des Barreaux d'Europe (FBE)" (Association of the European Bar Associations). On August 31, 2015, Lutz Simon gave up his admission as a specialist lawyer for tax law and his admission as a specialist lawyer for criminal law. As of December 31, 2017, he returned his license to practice as a lawyer. The Frankfurt Bar Association has allowed him to continue to use the designation "lawyer".

In 2008 Lutz Simon was elected President of the Rehabilitation Fund for Offenders.

Since 2013 he has been the patron of the ombudsman for children and youth rights in Hesse.

In 2001 the commemorative publication "Everything that is is right" was dedicated to him on his 60th birthday.

In November 2005 he was appointed a full member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Academia Scientiarum Et Artium Europaea / European Academy Of Sciences And Arts, Salzburg).

Lutz Simon was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit by the Federal President in 2007.

In May 2013 Lutz Simon was awarded the Hessian Order of Merit by the Hessian Prime Minister Volker Bouffier .
