Lutz Strohn

Lutz Strohn (born August 31, 1951 in Düsseldorf ) is a former judge at the Federal Court of Justice .

After completing his legal training on April 25, 1979, Strohn entered the higher judicial service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia . After serving at the regional and district court in Wuppertal, he was appointed judge at the regional court in Wuppertal on June 16, 1982 . On February 27, 1991 he was promoted to judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court , where, in addition to his work as a judge , he was also entrusted with judicial administration (including judicial personnel matters) from 1996 to 2002 and was appointed presiding judge on June 22, 1999.

On July 10, 2003, he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice. Until his retirement at the end of January 31, 2017, he was a member of the Second Civil Senate , which was primarily responsible for legal disputes in the area of ​​corporate law and sub-areas of capital market law , and was its deputy chairman since October 1, 2009; at the same time he had been a member of the Cartel Senate since July 2005. Since 2007 and 2009, respectively, he has been a deputy member of the Grand Senate for Civil Matters and the Joint Senate of the highest federal courts for both Senates. The Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf awarded him the title of Honorary Professor in 2013 .

During his more than thirteen years of membership in the Federal Court of Justice, Lutz Strohn had a major influence on the case law of both the Second Civil Senate and the Cartel Senate.
