Lux Junge Kirche in Nuremberg is the first Protestant youth church in Bavaria. It is an institution of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria and was opened on November 29, 2009 after a two-year renovation of the St. Luke Church in Nuremberg at the northeast train station.

aims

The purpose corresponds to the youth church idea developed throughout Germany . Adolescents and young adults between the ages of 15 and 27 should not perceive the church as “consumers”, but should have the opportunity to contribute their own ideas. Not only can you help shape church services, but you can also design the church interior to suit your aesthetic requirements.

“Stop Lux - Here you can experience yourself” is the educational concept and is intended to give young people the opportunity to get to know themselves and see what skills they have. Groups are offered in which the young people can test their skills and implement their ideas.

These include church services, events, gospel choirs, bands, theater, technology, gastronomy, 18plus team, U18 team, stewardship and dance workshop.

More than 100 volunteer youths and young adults are currently working.

history

The Café Lux-Box opened on April 23, 2010 as a meeting place for teenagers and young adults. Events such as unplugged concerts and lectures are also held at regular intervals. The Lux-Box is almost entirely run by young people.

The DOSTI Benefit Festival took place at Lux on November 19, 2010, with the bands Killerpilze , Mr. Irish Bastard and Green Frog Feet , among others .

On April 8, 2011, the Munich band Jamaram played in Lux in front of 850 spectators.

Building use

The converted church building by Lux is often the scene of larger events of the Bavarian State Church and is also used by companies and the media as an event or film location. On July 28, 2011 , the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation organized a studio talk between the then regional bishop Johannes Friedrich and his designated successor Heinrich Bedford-Strohm .

The video recordings for the music video Hallelujah by Axel Rudi Pell also took place in the church interior of Lux.
