The Sunday paper. Evangelical weekly newspaper for Bavaria has been published by the Evangelical Press Association for Bavaria eV (EPV) since 1945 and is the Evangelical church area newspaper with the highest circulation in Bavaria . The weekly newspaper reaches around 20,000 readers with 14,000 subscribers in Bavaria (as of 2018).
The Sunday paper appears in the following regional editions (headquarters of the editorial office):
- Nuremberg and Middle Franconia ( Nuremberg )
- Munich and Upper Bavaria ( Munich )
- Ansbach / Würzburg ( Würzburg )
- Augsburg and Swabia ( Augsburg )

The Sunday Gazette is published on behalf of the Bavarian State Church Council by the Evangelical Press Association for Bavaria eV The Sunday Gazette appeared with license number 7 from the American military government after the Second World War as one of the first newspapers in Bavaria.
The editor-in-chief of the Sonntagsblatt (print) has been the theologian and journalist Helmut Frank since 2000. He replaced the current Erlangen professor for Christian journalism, Johanna Haberer . The editor-in-chief for the Sonntagsblatt online edition (www.sonntagsblatt.de) has been the art historian and journalist Rieke C. Harmsen since 2016.
In addition to the Sunday paper, there are also regular special publications - such as the magazine “Sonntagsblatt Thema” or the “Materialheft Weltreligionen”: with over 20 ideas for project work and almost 40 worksheets for the learning workshop: material on the subject of world religions, especially Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism ”.

In the third quarter of 2017, the weekly newspaper had a total circulation of 17,117 copies, with a sold circulation of 15,426 copies, of which 13,027 were subscribers.
