Johanna Haberer (born Johanna Rückert on July 26, 1956 in Munich ) is a Protestant theologian , journalist and professor of Christian journalism in the theology department of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . She has been responsible for the Master’s degree in Media - Ethics - Religion (MER) since 2008 and Christian Media Communication (CMK) from WS 2015. She is the author of a variety of articles, lectures and radio sermons for various public broadcasters.

Life

Born in Munich in 1956 as the third of four children of Gertrud and Georg Rückert , Johanna Haberer studied theology, German and theater studies at the universities in Munich and Erlangen. She was vicar in Goldbach near Aschaffenburg and pastor for employment in Schongau . She received her journalistic training as a trainee at the Christian Media Academy. In 1984 and 1985 she took over the post of radio and television commissioner at Bayerischer Rundfunk . From 1985 to 1989 she worked in the Evangelical Press Association for Bavaria as a speaker for regional radio.

The Evangelical Radio Agency in Munich (efa) was set up under Haberer's direction. From 1990 to 1994 Haberer worked as theological editor for the evangelical film company Eikon GmbH . She was a writer and editor for numerous television films for ARD , ZDF , RTL , etc.

For the Sunday paper. Evangelical weekly newspaper for Bavaria , she worked from 1994 to 1997 as editor-in-chief. She took over the management of the editorial team of Evangelical TV (efs) in the Evangelical Press Association in 1996. Since 1996 she has been a preacher on Bayerischer Rundfunk for the Evangelical Morning Celebration and Auf ein Wort . From 2002 to 2006 she spoke The Word for Sunday . From 1997 to 2001 she was broadcasting officer of the Council of the Evangelical Church in Germany . In this position she represented the church's media-political positions in the dual broadcasting system in Germany. She was the first woman to be proposed for the office of regional bishop in the ELCB . Her candidacy as a divorced woman for this post in 1999 was controversial. The competitor Johannes Friedrich was elected in the fifth ballot .

Haberer has been Professor of Christian Journalism in the Theology Department at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg since 2001, although she has neither received her doctorate nor habilitation. From 2003 to 2010 she was a university preacher. Between 2006 and 2012 she was re-elected three times as Vice-Rector or Vice-President of the University with responsibility for teaching and studying.

On February 13, 2009, Haberer was nominated by the Appeals Committee of the Evangelical Church Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia as a candidate for the election of the Berlin bishop to succeed Wolfgang Huber, alongside the Koblenz superintendent Markus Dröge and the director of the Evangelical Academy in Berlin Rüdiger Sachau . Markus Dröge became bishop of the EKBO .

Haberer is a member of the jury of the Protestant Film Prize ( Robert Geisendörfer Prize ) and the Karl Buchrucker Prize of the Inner Mission Munich . She is co-editor of Publik-Forum . Member of the supervisory board and pastoral care coordinator at Augustinum gGmbH and member of the supervisory board of Wichern-Verlag in Berlin and on the editorial board of Die Kirche Berlin and Zeitzeichen Berlin.

In May 2017, Haberer was sent by the Bavarian State Church ELKB to the media council of the Bavarian State Center for New Media (BLM).

Johanna Haberer has a daughter. Haberer's brother is Markus Rückert , managing director of Augustinus gGmbH, her sister is Sabine Rückert , deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper Die Zeit .

Since July 2018, Haberer has been a member of the Federal Government's Data Ethics Commission , which began its work in Berlin on September 5, 2018.
