Lydia Kath

Lydia Franziska Charlotte Kath (married name: Lydia Knop , also: Lydia Knop-Kath , born August 16, 1906 in Virchow / Pomerania ; † April 12, 1978 in Cologne ) was a German writer .

Life

Lydia Kath received her doctorate in 1931 at the University of Frankfurt with a thesis on Wilhelm Raabe as a doctor of philosophy . During the time of National Socialism , she published a series of narrative works in the Nazi publishing house “Junge Generation”, which were on the first “ list of literature to be sorted out ” in the Soviet zone in 1946 . From the mid-1950s, Lydia Kath published successful children's books, of which the volume Tales of Little Michael had a circulation of over 50,000 copies.

In 1935 Lydia Kath married Hermann Theodor Knop (1903–1961) in Dramburg . She died in 1978 at the age of 71 in her apartment in Cologne-Bayenthal . The couple's grave is located in Cologne's southern cemetery .
