Lyle B. Reifsnider

Lyle Baldwin Reifsnider (born August 11, 1901 in Chicago , Illinois , † December 9, 1980 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American production designer who was nominated for an Oscar once .

Life

Reifsnider began his career as a prop master in the Hollywood film industry in 1942 in the film romance Kings Row by Sam Wood with Ann Sheridan , Robert Cummings and Ronald Reagan . In the following years he worked on the stage equipment of 45 films until 1966.

For 1948 by Vincent Sherman staged swashbuckler film Adventures of Don Juan ( Adventures of Don Juan ) with Errol Flynn , Viveca Lindfors and Robert Douglas was Reifsnider at the Academy Awards in 1950 along with Edward Carrere for the best Oscar for Production design nominated in a color film.

Other well-known films with his sets were Der Rebell ( The Flame and the Arrow , 1950) by Jacques Tourneur with Burt Lancaster , Virginia Mayo and Robert Douglas, Lullaby of Broadway (1951) by David Butler with Doris Day , Gene Nelson and Szöke Szakall as well the horror film Professor Bondi's Cabinet ( House of Wax , 1953) by André De Toth with Vincent Price , Paul Cavanagh and Roy Roberts .
