Lyreco is a French family company based in Marly , which manufactures office supplies and has also been trading in personal protective equipment and operating and business equipment since 2013 .

Lyreco was founded in 1926 under the name Gaspard and has been using the name Lyreco worldwide since 2001. Today the company is active in 45 countries; most offices are in Europe , but the company also has operations in Canada , Australia , Hong Kong , Thailand and Korea . The company states that its number of employees is over 10,000 (4500 in sales) and the storage area is 400,000 square meters. According to the company, the total annual turnover of the group exceeds 2 billion euros.

In 1996 Lyreco took over Abele & Rehn and Göbelhoff and entered the German market. Lyreco Deutschland GmbH has been based in Barsinghausen - Bantorf , near Hanover , since August 2009 . The logistics center with a central warehouse of 35,000 square meters is also located in Barsinghausen.

In June 2008, competitor Corporate Express canceled the previously announced takeover of Lyreco after Staples acquired CE for an estimated EUR 1.7 billion .
