Lysimachus (son of Ptolemy II)
Lysimachos ( Greek Λυσίμαχος ; † around 222/221 BC) was a prince of the Hellenistic Ptolemaic dynasty in Egypt .
Lysimachus was the second legitimate born son of King Ptolemy II and Arsinoë I ; his older brother was the successor in the kingdom Ptolemy III. He was named after his maternal grandfather, the Diadoch ruler Lysimachos . Shortly after the reign of his nephew Ptolemy IV (222-205 BC), Lysimachus fell victim to an assassination attempt by the influential court minister Sosibios, as did his sister-in-law Berenike II and his nephew Magas .
