The Schiffer Holding GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of dental care products. The family-owned company headquartered in Neustadt (Wied) in Rhineland-Palatinate . Subsidiaries with their own production are located in Stützengrün , Adnet (Austria) and Goa (India).

With a daily production of one million pieces, Schiffer is the largest independent toothbrush manufacturer in the world. a. for brands of the companies GlaxoSmithKline , Unilever and Philips , which mainly specialize in the development, marketing and sales of consumer goods , or brands of discounters .

history

M + C Schiffer was founded in 1887 as the Rheydter brush factory. In 1945 the company specialized in the manufacture of toothbrushes, and in 1949 developed and patented the first “anchorless” toothbrush. In 1953 the company developed the Dr. Best and established it on the market until it was sold in 1970. In 1960 M + C Schiffer founded a branch in Austria, followed in 1991 by Dentabross GmbH in Stützengrün and in 1996 by Schiffer & Menezes in Goa, India. In 1997 the company developed the "in-mold process", which avoids the disadvantages of anchor-based brushes and has been used increasingly since then.
