The MÁV IV were freight train - Tender locomotives of Hungarian State Railways (MÁV).

history

The Fiumaner line with its many and large gradients required the procurement of new high-performance locomotives. In addition to the MÁV IIIa , a quadruple coupled series was also procured. Sigl delivered 31 machines to the MÁV (later 4001-4029) and three to the First Hungarian-Galician Railway (Első Magyar-Gácsországi Vasút, EMGV), which on the occasion of the nationalization of the EUGE (EMGV) with the numbers 4030-4032 were classified in category IV of the MÁV. In the third designation scheme of the MÁV they were then 441.001–032.

The fourth axis had a side play of 28 mm to improve cornering. The machines were reversed with the spindle control used here for the first time. The common suspension spring for the second and third axles was striking. In the course of re-boilering, the vehicles also received the long smoke chamber typical of Hungary.
