Mária Tiboldi , also Maria Tiboldi (born April 20, 1939 in Szolnok ) is a Hungarian operetta singer and actress .

Live and act

Mária Tiboldi was born in the Hungarian province, but grew up in Budapest since 1949. From 1957 she received a vocal training there, which she completed in 1961. From 1963 she appeared in operettas and musicals in her native Hungary and went on tour through communist countries (Bucharest, Prague, Moscow). In 1966 Mária Tiboldi accepted an invitation to the West and played in Berlin (Theater des Westens) and Vienna (Raimund Theater). Appearances in Munich and at the Landestheater Salzburg followed. The black-haired artist celebrated successes especially in the operettas by Emmerich Kálmán , but also received leading roles in plays based on models by Paul Abraham , Johann Strauss (son) , Franz Lehár and Giuseppe Verdi .

In her heyday at the German and Austrian operetta stages, Mária Tiboldi, who had already made her debut in front of the camera as a film actress in 1964, was also a welcome guest in German-language television shows such as the Sunday concert, in Zauber der Melodie, in Zum Blauen Bock and in three times nine . In addition, she also took part in operetta adaptations prepared for television, for example in 1971 in Der Opernball . Back in Hungary, La Tiboldi also appeared again at the Budapest Opera and was reinstated as a film actress: she was seen in a small guest role in István Szabó's Zeitbild Hanussen in 1988. Mária Tiboldi has received several awards for her artistic work.
