Márta Záray

Márta Záray (born August 28, 1926 in Tatabánya , † March 31, 2001 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian singer. Their preferred genre was dance and light music.

Life

Záray grew up in a miner's family in Tatabánya. She attended the state drama school and graduated there in 1946. Their first appearances took place in the Volkshaus ( Népház ) in Tatabánya. In 1950 she began to sing regularly in the EMKE coffee house in Budapest's VII. District and thus achieved a relatively high level of popularity. It was there that she met her future husband, the singer János Vámosi, with whom she often performed together in the following years. She was heard and seen in numerous radio and television programs at home and abroad. In 1977 she received the Hungarian State Prize SZOT in recognition of her work.

With the song Tatabányai lány ( German girl from Tatabánya ) she set a monument to her hometown Tatabánya .

Her grave is on the Újtelepi temető in Tatabánya.
