The fairy tale fountain is located in the Hofgarten in Düsseldorf 's Stadtmitte district .

history

The fountain , created by the French sculptor Max Blondat (1872–1925), was shown for the first time in 1904 at the International Art and Horticultural Exhibition in the Düsseldorf Art Palace . This was thanks to the Düsseldorf Commerce Councilor Hermann Schulte, who had previously discovered the fountain in the exhibition of the Salon de Paris . Several buyers were found at the exhibition who were interested in acquiring it, such as the Leipziger Kunstverein , the director of the Frankfurt Palmengarten and the Beautification Association for the City of Düsseldorf.

The chairman of the Düsseldorf Association, Albert Poensgen (1856–1928), succeeded in purchasing the award-winning model. On November 16, 1905, the fountain on Ananasberg was set up in the courtyard garden. The fountain shows three children sitting together and looking at three frogs. In 1985 the fountain received a bronze duplicate from Düsseldorf. There are also duplicates in Zurich , Dijon , Odessa and Denver .
