The wood warbler ( Cardellina pusilla , Syn . : Wilsonia pusilla ) is a small bird in the wood warbler family (Parulidae). The American Ornithologists' Union classified the species in the genus Cardellina in 2011 , before the bird was in Wilsonia .
The plumage is olive-brown to green-brown on the upper side. The male's crown is black. The underside plumage is yellow.
They mainly feed on insects , which they catch in flight.
The monk warbler lay their bowl-shaped nests on the ground. A clutch consists of four to six eggs.
The breeding areas are in the open woodlands in the north of North America , from Canada to the south, mainly in the west of North America. In winter they move to Central America and are also rare guests in Western Europe .
