Müezzinzade Filibeli Hafız Ahmed Pascha
Müezzinzade Filibeli Hafız Ahmed Pascha (* 1564 in Filibe in the Ottoman Empire, today Plovdiv in Bulgaria , † February 10, 1632 in Istanbul ) was an Ottoman Grand Vizier . Born the son of a Pomak muezzin , he came to Istanbul at the age of 15 and was a servant in the palace there for years. From 1609 he was governor of Damascus , Van , Erzurum , Baghdad and other Anatolian vilayets .
He was the Grand Vizier twice and remained in office for a total of two years, a month and 21 days. He died fighting against insurgent janissaries who wanted to depose Sultan Murad IV .
