The Müller Amazon ( Amazona farinosa ), also Müller-Amazon written is a parrot of the subfamily of arini . The basic color of the plumage of this 38 centimeter large amazon species is green, with the upper part of the body being slightly bluish. Individual individuals have a clearly pronounced yellow vertex. In others, this vertex is limited to a few feathers. The top of the head, the nape of the neck and the feathers on the neck are broadly lined with gray-blue and have purple-black borders. The birds show no sexual dimorphism . They weigh between 535 and 766 grams.
The distribution area of this species, for which four subspecies are described in addition to the nominate form , extends from southern Mexico to northern Bolivia and Brazil. The preferred habitat of this amazon species is the tropical rainforest. It prefers to live in the forests of the lowlands and is only occasionally found in foothills up to an altitude of 1000 meters. Unlike other Amazon species, larger schools of this species are rare. They either live in pairs or in small family groups. But they also socialize with other Amazon species such as a subspecies of the yellow-cheeked amazon , the Salvinamazone or the Venezuela amazon . A socialization with old-headed parrots ( Pionus seniloides ) has already been observed. Their diet consists mainly of fruits and seeds.
