Garbage fee

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The garbage fee is the payment for waste disposal . The waste disposal is legally a municipal task.

For this, the fee will be determined by the municipality's statutes , regardless of whether the garbage disposal is carried out by a municipal waste disposal company ( own company ) or a private one. It is therefore subject to the equivalence principle .

Due to the compulsory connection and use , every property owner in Germany is generally liable to pay a fee. In the case of rented properties, the garbage fees are passed on to the tenant as part of the operating costs .

The garbage fees are usually staggered according to the number and size of the garbage can , the type of garbage (including residual waste , waste paper , bulky waste ) and the frequency of departure (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly).

The large difference in fees in the individual municipalities leads to investigations by the Federal Cartel Office .
